Onion Chutney (Pyaaz Chatni)
condiment, indian, relishes, side dish
2 medium onions
2 medium green peppers
1/2 teaspoon sliced ginger root
20 fresh mint leaves
1 pinch mustard seeds
1 dash asafoedita powder
1 sea salt to taste
4 tablespoon lemon juice
Onion is not normally associated with being ground into a chutney, but this chutney is one that prescribes just that. Make it and find out what you have been missing. Serve as a side dish.
1. Peel the onion and top and tail the pepper, then chop both.
2. Place together with ginger, mint, mustard asafoedita and : salt in an electric grinder, and make a thin paste.
3. Remove to a serving dish; add lemon juice and blend.
4. Serve chilled as needed.
