Aloo Achaar (Nepalese Potato Salad)
appetizers, indian, salads
3 lb waxy potatoes
12 tablespoon sesame oil
12 tablespoon roasted sesame seeds
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
12 tablespoon lemon juice
1 asafoetida
1 fresh chilli
28 whole fenugreek seeds
6 tablespoon finely chopped green pepper
9 tablespoon chopped parsley/coriander
Cook potatoes in boiling water. Meanwhile, combine the ground sesame seed, lemon juice, salt and green chillies in a stainless steel or non metallic bowl. Add the 4 tbs of sesame oil a few drops at a time, and beat in with a wire whisk or fork.
Heat the vegetable oil in a tiny pan or metal ladle. When very hot, put in the asafoetida and the fenugreek seeds. As soon as the seeds begin to darken, (this takes but a second or two) pour the oil and spices into the dressing. Mis well, add the finely chopped coriander and mix again. Check seasoning.
When potatoes are cooked, but still hot, peel them and cut into 2 cm cubes. Put them into the dressing and mix gently. Check again for seasoning, allow to cool and refrigerate if not eaten within the next couple of hours. May be eaten cold or at room temperature.

=== Cut === contd >>>>>> IH>> do the job properly. GRRR. However at least the sound works now - IH>> except for the wave player - sigh.
GM> reformat the hard disk, then install W95 onto a totally blank GM> disk(!), and then rebuild everything afterwards.
Yes. Maybe. But it ain't easy to arrange that when you're trying to do what I was trying. Sigh.
GM> Do NOT try to update from older versions of Win. It wouldn't anyway!
So as you've seen, I've slung out the whole boiling issue, discovered I _DO_ have sound, CAN automate my mail transfer and CAN do everything I want to do - except use modern Win95 programs.
GM> Do NOT try to re-install on a disk that already contains other files GM> and/or directories.
I wonder how that works with virtual disks. Win95 has this VERY unattractive habit of poking its nose into places it's got no business. It's as if I invited you into my home, and you immediately poked into deepest receses of the cupboard under the stairs, that rather smelly corner in the cellar, and right behind the boiler in the garage.
I'd be quite happy to let it loose on a nice clean virgin freshly formatted virtual disk C, but I suspect it would also go grovelling around D,E AND the boot manager partition, as well as the "hidden alternate C" where my REAL O/S lives.
GM> ... Windows95 is NOt a virus. Viruses are - Free, and rarely fail... ROTFLMAO.
All the Best Ian
