condiment, ethnic, indian
4 medium mangoes; sweet but firm
1 tablespoon mint leaves; finely chopped
1 pinch asafoetida powder
1/2 teaspoon white cumin seeds
1 sea salt; to taste
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 tablespoon molasses sugar; crushed
An exotic preparation to delight your guests; made quickly, this sweet chutney usually has a thick consistency and can be taken with packed lunches and picnics.
1. Clean and slice the mangoes.
2. Place all ingredients on a "sil" and grind coarsely with a "batta" (or use a motar and pestle).
3. Remove to a serving dish. Add a little water if the mixture is too thick and lumby, and blend.
4. Chill before serving.
