Dried Mango Chutney (Amchoor Chatni)

condiment, ethnic, indian, relishes, side dish

2 oz dried mango slices
20 mint leaves
1 fress green chilli; chopped
1 centiliter garlic; sliced
1/4 teaspoon fresh ginger; grated
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1 sea salt; to taste

This chutney will be a novelty for western cooks, although in India "amchoor" chutney is well known and quite popular. Dried mango slices (amchoor) are available at all Indian grocers. Serve as a side dish. 1. Soak the mango slices in water to cover overnight, or soak in warm, water about 2 hours. 2. Place the mango slices, together with the water they were soaking in and the rest of the ingredients, over the sil and grind finely with the batta (or use an electric grinder). 3. Chill and serve with a meal or savoury snacks.
