Apple & Pineapple Chutney (Margaret O'sullivan)

1 kg cooking apples; peeled, cored & chopped
1 pineapple; peeled, cored & chopped
1 cup brown sugar
3 teaspoon chopped preserved ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup sultanas (golden raisins)
1 teaspoon ; salt
1 cup ; water
1 cup malt vinegar
Simmer the apples, water and sugar for 15 minutes before adding all other ingredients excepting the vinegar. Stir well. Simmer for another 15 minutes, then add the vinegar. Simmer until thick, stirring occasionally. Pour into jars and seal.
